Fuji X100 against the rest of the world (Ricoh, Leica and Sigma)

[shoplink 100018 eBay][/shoplink]

There are three new Fuji X100 reviews you can read today.

The Japanese website DC.watch (Click here) compared the Fuji X100 against the other fixed lens cameras. The Leica X1, Sigma DP1x and Ricoh GXR + GR LENS A12 28mm. The text is in Japanese and google translation tool does a terrible job here. So we can’t tel you what the tester conclusions is. But you can take a look at the full-size samples for yourself. And let me know what in your opinion is the best camera!

The french magazine Focus Numerique (Click here) finalized their X100 reviews. The google english translation amkes a little bit more of sense here: “the list of positives and negatives is symptomatic of this duality. Both the X100 we delivers good image quality, features innovative features such as hybrid viewfinder, so it is penalized by small faults (ergonomics, slow). Some of these shortcomings can probably be corrected by a simple firmware update (assign functions to the rocker back button to customize the RAW option to auto ISO sensitivity menu …), others are not.

You can get the Fuji X100 on [shoplink 100018 eBay]eBay[/shoplink], or preorder on J&R and Digitalrev.

Fuji will announce a mirrorless X300 in summer 2012?

[shoplink 100018 ebay][/shoplink]

Bob Todrick, a pro photographer from Edmonton, Alberta wrote (Source: Dpreview Forum): “Have had my [shoplink 100018 ebay]X100[/shoplink] for a week now … puts any of the 4/3 compacts out their to shame. Pretty sure they have a winner here…and Fuji has confirmed an X300 next year that will have interchangeable lenses.

Bob also said that “I’m in the pro photo supply biz…this is from Fuji. They have decided to pursue what they call the serious prosumer market. The plans are that in the fall they will release an X200…a simplified ‘p&s’ version of the x100. If these cameras do well they plan on the interchangeable lens version sometime next year.

In the past Fuji already said that they are “very interested” in making an interchangeable lens system.

The Fuji X100 is now available on [shoplink 100018 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

Nikon says mirrorlress is taking away market from compact cameras, not from DSLR’s.

Image on top: The rangefinder camera.

Amateur Photographer (Click here) got another interesting statement from Nikon. Simo Iddon (Product Manager og Nikon UK) said that: “The success of compact system camera sales is taking away from the compact camera market, not from digital SLRs” because “if you want a DSLR you want what a DSLR stands for’ and that isn’t a compact system camera.

That statement backups the rumors saying that Nikon will announce a small sensor size Nikon Coolpix Pro mirrorless system. The sensor could have a 2.5crop factor making it smaller than the Micro Four Thirds sensor.

What the hell? General Electrics will eneter the mirrorless market!

CNET Asia talked with a spokesperson from General Electrics who said that “GE is looking to introduce its first Micro Four Thirds-like camera before the end of 2011“. Interesting that they said “Micro Four Thirds like” and not “mirrorless” or “CSC” or “ILC”. General Electrics is already producing digital cameras (the GE cameras). There are no details about the future mirrorless cameras.

HOT: First pictures of the Pentax NC mirrorless system!

We were told by our sources that Pentax will announce their “Pentax NC” mirrorless system in May/June. We got our hands on the first picture of the camera and lenses. As you can see from the image it really looks like the digital version of the popular and very tiny . Pentax goal was to create the smallest mirrorless system of the world. That’s why the sensors has a 1/2,33? size (that’s the size of the sensor in most compacts). It’s a 14 Megapixel 5.6x crop sensor. It can also record HD h.264 movies. Two lenses will be released along the NC-1. There will be a prime 8.5mm f/1.9 (almost 47mm equivalent) and a zoom 5-15mm f/2.8-4.5 (28-80mm equivalent)! As you see from the pictures above those are very small lenses.  We don’t have the exact size measures yet. The new Kenko mirrorless system also uses a 14 Megapixel 1/2,33? (crop factor 5,6). And we were told that Kenko worked very close with Pentax to create the system.

But here comes the even bigger news. Pentax will create two different mirrorless systems! The second system will feature a much larger APS-C sensor (Sony?) and be compatible with current K-mount lenses. That system should be introduced this summer. So if you want an incredible small mirrorles ssystem you can get the NC-1, if you want a mirrorless system with high image quality you can get the large sensor camera. Easy or not?
