Pentax NC-1 for $600?

According to a source from Photorumors the Pentax NC-1 mirrorless will cost $600. As I already told you it has a small 1/2,33? size sensor (that’s the size of the sensor in most compacts). It’s a 14 Megapixel 5.6x crop sensor. It can also record HD h.264 movies. Two lenses will be released along the NC-1. There will be a prime 8.5mm f/1.9 (almost 47mm equivalent) and a zoom 5-15mm f/2.8-4.5 (28-80mm equivalent).

Everything goes small: Sony NEX-C3, Panasonic GF3 and new Olympus PEN light!

In June there will be a triple announcement from Sony, Panasonic and Olympus. And all three companies are going to compete for the smalles mirrorless cameras race. So fix those dates in your calendar:

On June 3 Sony will announce the Sony NEX-C3. Smaller than the actual Micro Four Thirds cameras. It will have a new 16 Megapixel sensor but with HD recording only. But the biggest issue with Sony is that they don’t have an ultrasmall pancake like the Panasonci 14mm f/2.5 lens. So camera and lens combo will still be bigger than the Olympus and Panasonic smallest cameras.

One mid June Panasonic will announce the GF3. 15% smaller than the current GF2 and with the same G3 16 Megapixel sensor. Very touchscreen oriented, almsot no buttons.

On late June Olympus will announce the PEN light (name still not leaked). I don’t know yet if it will have in body image stabilization or not. If yes the than the camera will be probably thicker than the Sony and Panasonic cameras. And it sounds liek it will use an “upgraded” 12 Megapixel sensor.

That’s going to be abig battle! Who will be the winner? Hmmm, let’s not forget there is still a Samsung NX200 to come in July!

Fuji X100 news and reviews roundup!

[shoplink 100018 ebay][/shoplink]

There have been lots of new [shoplink 100018 ebay]Fuji X100[/shoplink] news and reviews. So let’s make a nice summary!

Electronista (Click here) wrote a Fuji X100 review: “As such, it’s easy to like the X100 and give it a good general recommendation. It’s absolutely essential to be aware of what the camera can do, but there’s so much power inside that it feels like the last compact camera you’d ever need. It almost pained us to have to hand the camera back, and that speaks volumes about what Fujifilm has done.
Imaging Resource (Click here) posted a Fuji X100 overview including some test photos.

The Samsung 300mm f/2.8 is a REAL lens. And first 60mm macro samples.

Samsung confirmed to Amateur Photographer that the 300mm f/2.8 lens “leaked” inside an official Samsung video is a working prototype. And a spokesman for Samsung’s head office said that “there is no definitive plan to launch this lens into the NX system“.

P.S.: A beta tester of the NX 60mm/f2.8 Macro lens posted quick review with some pictures: http://www.slrclub.com/bbs/vx2.php?id=newproduct_samsung&no=2737

Is the Samsung medium format mirrorless camera coming for real?

One of our trusted Samsung sources just sent us that image which includes some description about the Samsung camera prototypes. The real AMAZING news is that Samsung is really working on a large format sensor system! Those cameras are more than prototypes! The source told me that Samsung will release both leaked models, the Leica X1 styled and the Hasselblad styled cameras. The source couldn’t give me specs of the [shoplink 100117 ebay]Hasselblad[/shoplink] styled camera but told me that “it will be a very simple system, with AF/MF option and Auto mode, so simple maybe means that it will be cheaper than other MF cameras.”. Samsung would be the first manufacturer to produce a larger than MFT/APS-C sensor sized mirrorless camera!

Stay tuned on MirrorlessRumors! We hope to learn more about the medium format camera soon!
