The compact roundup: Canon 18-70mm f/2.8-6 and Fuji X20.

Egami (translation here) spotted a new lens patent that describes that could be possibly fit on the next G1X successor. The 18-70mm f/2.8-6.0. But while we can never trust patents to show us the real final specs of a product the rumors about the new Fuji X20 seems to be much more solid. According to Fujirumors the X20 specs are the following:
– New EXR CMOS 2/3 14MP
– Fujinon 24-120mm F1.8-2.8
– continuous shooting up to 10 frames per second
– Full HD videos 1080*1920
– maximum ISO 12.800
– 460.000 pixel screen and optical viewfinder
– expected launch: January

And as you know there is also a new X100 successor on the horizon…

Tamron patent discloses a new 300mm f/2.8 for Full Frame mirrorless camera.

Egami (translation here) spotted a new Tamron patent describing a 300mm f/2.8 lens for a Full Frame mirrorless camera system. As you know Sony Corporation maintains an 11% share hold in Tamron (Source: Wikipedia). So this lens may be designed for FF NEX cameras…

P.S.: Tokina just admitted that The Kenko 400mm f/8.0 lens for Sony E-mount has a defect on the shutter. You should contact Tokina to exchange the lens (Source: DC.watch).

Two new Nikon 1 cameras to come.

Image on top: The current J2. It will be already replaced by the J3.

According to Nikonrumors there will be two new mirrorless cameras from Nikon. The Nikon J3 with same 14MP sensor of the V2. And the new S1, an entry level 1 camera with 10MP sensor.

Not exactly an exciting news :)

Fuji CES invite

It’s Christmas time but the rumor world is getting busier every day!
Fuji sent this invitation to Petapixel for an announcement that will take place in Las Vegas on January 7th. And according to Fujirumors the X100 successor is not named X200. it will have a new name not known yet! It uses the same 16 Megapixel X trans sensor form the X-E1 and X PRO 1. But the AF has been improved, the hybrid viewfinder is completely new, operating speeds are faster. The lens will remain the same of the X100, a 23mm f/2.0.

And DSLRmagazine got some more vague info about the high end hybrid MFT and FT Olympus camera coming by end 2013. It has new “advanced” features, a “spectacular” EVF, it is not a modular camera, native MFT mount with “special” FT adapter, more expensive and bigger than the OMD. Not really a spec list…sounds more like marketing  :)

Anyway, we will have to wait one year to see that Olympus OMD and the Sony FF NEX we talked about today. For now let’s see how that new Fuji X will be!

Full Frame NEX cameras coming in one year. NEX-7 style and 24 or 30-32MP sensor.

It was only a matter of time until Sony or Fuji would enter the Full Frame mirrorless system world that until now has been dominated by Leica only. According to SonyAlphaRumors it is Sony’s plan to release the first NEX-7 styled Full Frame NEX camera in almost exactly one year! It has a native E-mount and you will likely be able to use current E-mount lenses in crop mode. The camera specs are still not finalized a two different sensors are beeing tested (24 and 30-32 Megapixel).

And I guess that by than also Fuji may be close to release their own Full Frame X camera althaugh I don’t know yet if they will sue the current X mount for it.
