Plenty of new Cameras coming in J-February: NEX-7 successor, low end OMD, GH4, Fujica ST, Leica FF and Samsung NXF1

A big rumor time is ahead of us. And from what I got from my sources manufacturers are defintiely NOT going to wait til the Photokina in September to announce new great cameras. From begin January til mid February we can expect the following announcements:

Sony: New Sony NEX-7 successor is coming. It will likely use an updated new 24MP sensor and a more high-resolution EVF. It will also have on sensor PDAF. What we don’t know yet is if Sony will also announce a new entry level NEX…pardon Alpha E-mount camera :)

Olympus: There will be certainly a new entry-level OMD camera. Not the E-M5 successor! It will be cheaper than the E-M5.

Panasonic: Panasonic is heavily working to launch the new GH 4K camera. I am not sure yet they will announce it in February or April. But it’s coming!

Leica: Leica will launch a new mirrorless system with EVF and AF lenses. Primes will be designed and fabricated in Germany. The zooms are made by Panasonic in Japan. The camera should cost close to $2000 and have a bigger than ASP-C sensor (FF or less big).

Samsung: Samsung will launch a new NXF1. No specs are given yet but the “F” suggests that this could be the first FF camera?

Fuji: Fuji is going to make a digital version fo the glorious Fujica ST. While the X-PRO1s will come too.

Sigma: They are working on a interchangeable DP camera version. The chances stay good this will have an MFT mount.

Canon/Nikon/Ricoh/Pentax: It’s very quiet on that front. There were some rumors about a Pentax LX FF camera but you know…these Pentax FF rumors are floating around the web since the web has been invented :)

So here we are, ready to start a new rumor time with new energy and with the new MirrorlessRumors theme! I kindly invite you to read the presentation of the new site here: https://www.mirrorlessrumors.com/welcome-to-the-new-mirrorlessrumors-theme.

Join in masses! :)

Olympus-Panasonic interviews at DC.watch. (New OMD, New GH 4K).

There is a double interview at DC.watch, first with Olympus and the second with Panasonic managers.
What we learn from those are:

– Olympus says they will focus on high end products like the OMD because these are selling better than PEN cameras

– Panasonic confessed that a GH 4K camera is likely to happen next year!

All the rest of the interview is more or less about the past and future strategy and a deep marketing analysis. While the worldwide interchangeable lens camera market is nor more growing the mirrorless cameras are still selling very well and growing in Asian countries and slowly also in Europe too. US market is still the hardest to conquer!

Also Canon could make an OMD alike EOS-M camera? Coming late 2014.

Image on top: Canon Director Mr. Makoto.

Dcwatch (google translation here) posted the content of an interview with Canon director MR. Makoto. Based on what the google translation tool provides us we have the following information:

– New EOS-M with built-in EVF could arrive the second half of 2014 .

– EOS-M focus is on keeping size down

– One key aspect on future mirrorless cameras is the hybrid still+video performance

– There will be new lenses for the EOS-M system

– Canon is also “studying” the possibility to make more semi pro or pro mirrorless cameras (Whatever that means…LOL).

For now Canon didn’t take the mirrorless camera world very seriously. But I am pretty sure this is going to change in 2014. The problems for them is. Will they be able to catch up with the best cameras like the Fuji X-E2, Sony A7r and Olympus E-M1?

Welcome to the new MirrorlessRumors theme!

After many months of work and lot of issues to solve our first beta of the new MirrorlessRumor theme is online.

The first thing you have to know is that this isn’t just a redesign. We completely rethinked the way a rumor site should work!

What I learned from these years on MirrorlessRumors is that:

1) There are many mirrorless camera owners that have the knowledge and passion to share interesting news. They can finally do that directly without having to contact the administrators!

2) For me (the admin) it is impossible to be online 24h per day. And with your help I can avoid to miss important news or rumors. This will keep the site always up to date.

That’s why:

From now on this becomes a community where everyone can post directly news and rumors! To do so you are kindly invited to become a member of this site. Check out what you can do by clicking on the Member Panel you see on top right of the site (it shows only after your registration and login).

How it works and what you can do:

1) You can submit articles that will be reviewed by our admins (for now this is just…me). If approved they will get online.

2) You can comment articles

3) You will get votes for approved posts (100 points) and 1 point for every like on your posts or comments (or -1 point if someone dislikes)

4) If you want and I can trust you…than you can ask to become an admin. As admin you can write posts without my moderation and review other members articles.

What do you gain by joining the community?

1) You can promote your work, your sites and let the community know who you are! You are free to write post and link back to your Blog and Portfolios. Use MR to get known!

2) Less trolls. Now only approved members can comment and heavy trolls will be first warned and eventually kicked out if they don’t follow the very basic rules of respect.

…and many more “reasons” to join will be online soon!

Remember:

This is just a very early beta. We need to launch the site as it is to check out if everything works fine before we do keep adding features. So please, join the site, try the features and I hope you will like what we have done so far!

Thanks a lot!

Peter, Andrea, Ale, Doug, Patrick, Stefan

P.S.: today there will be problems with signup from facebook and twitter until the domain propagates well.

Leica will launch a high quality system camera based on their own mount.

A fake mirrorless Leica render by leicarumors.

It’s really not a surprise but at least we can confirm it via our own very trusted sources. Leica’s new mirrorless system will not be part of any current mount. Leica has chosen to go their own route and will offer their very own mount. The cameras will be built by Panasonic and what remains to be answered yet is if Panasonic will join the system with their own branded cameras too. I think it would be good for Leica to have them onboard. it could be a remake of the Oly-Pana partnership that made MFT that successful. But I still think the chances stay very low for this. Probably Leica want to give away their “exclusive” character?
