2013 mirrorless sales in UK dropped by 32%!

Amateur Photographer reports that mirrorless system camera sales dropped by 32% while DSLR sales dropped by 11% in 2013.

Lens sales for mirrorless system cameras fell by 16% and for DSLR -22,8%.

Compact camera sales fell 34%.

Overall mirrorless and DSLR camera sales peaked worldwide in 2012 and the market is now shrinking. Mirrorless is doing a bit worse than DSLR but we have to see in 2014 if more “mature” mirrorless products like the Olympus OMD, Fuji X-T1, Panasonic GH4 and Sony A7 series will make a positive difference.

Sony A6000 has a hell of AF speed! Full video-review by CameraStoreTV

Well, that nifty Sony A6000 may not be as glamorous as the Fuji X-T1 but it can do a lot for the money. The guys from TheCameraStoreTV posted the first full video review and there is really little to complain about the camera. The AF speed is terrific and even the on paper weakest point, the low resolution EVF is said to be a positive surprise because of the faster refresh rate and absolute no lag.

The possible three next Sony FE lenses: 16-35mm f/4.0 Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 Zeiss 90mm Sony G macro

Well, we don’t know yet what the exact upcoming FE lens specs will be. The roadmap only says the next three will be a wide angle zoom from Zeiss, a fast prime from Zeiss and a Sony G macro lens. People over at Kakaku claim to have got “unofficial” words from Sony managers that these are the exact specs of the three lenses:

16-35mm f/4.0 Zeiss
35mm f/1.4 Zeiss
90mm Sony G macro

The lenses could be announced in Spring. All we know for sure is that Sony scheduled a new press release in late March. 4K cameras coming for sure but they could also announce some new FE lens too!

HastaLosMegapixels: Only 3% of the World Press Photo winner pictures have been taken with a Mirroless camera!

Graph source: Hastalosmegapixeles

Hastalosmegapixeles (Click here) checked the full World Press Photo winner list and noticed that about 90% of the pictures have been taken with DSLR cameras. Only 3% with Mirrorless, and 7% with rangefinder or film cameras.

There is still a long way to go for Mirrorless System Cameras before they become as popular as DSLR. But the first goal has been achieved already: On a pure tech level cameras like the Fuji X-T1 and Olympus E-M1 are on par with the best APS-C DSLR cameras.
