Confirmed: Sony A6100 to be announced in early February

nex_7_main_0

After a couple of delays the new A6100 is going to be announced in early February. On SonyAlphaRumors there is also a report about a second mirrorless camera but I got no reliable info about that one.

So far it’s rumored the A6100 will feature a new 36MP sensor. But this still has to be verified by trusted sources.

If you really want to hear a very wild (also unreliable rumor) than the second Sony mirrorless is a new Full Frame E-mount. But take that one with ease…

Sony will launch a new E-mount lens series named: “G-Master”

G-master

So, after Batis, Loxia, A-mount lenses, E-mount lenses, FF and APS-C Sony camera owners will get another chance to get even more confused! Just joking ;)

Sony trademarked a new logo for a new Sony FE “G-Master” lens series. G-mast er will define the High End E-mount lenses probably for hybrid shooters (powerzoom). The first lens that Sony will announce is the new 24-70mm f/2.8 FE lens.

Those are the next new mirrorless cameras: Olympus PEN-F, Sony A6100 and Panasonic GF8!

The PEN-F (image via Digicameinfo).

Fuji had the big announcement but as a rumor site we always have to look on what’s coming as next:

  1. Olympus will announce the PEN-F on January 27
  2. Sony will announce the A6100 before the CP+ show in February
  3. Panasonic will announce the 4K GF8 at the Cp+ show in late February

But of course there is room for surprise! Maybe Sony will announce a new FF E-mount too…

Picture of the new X-PRO 2 completley demolished by a reviewer!

Well that’s not really good if Fuji hand you over one of the very first X-PRO 2 cameras and then you demolish it like that :)
The reviewer Rico did yet not explain how he managed to “reshape” the X-PRO 2 like that. Maybe it was a Grizzly attack? Or an angry Nikon marketing guy? :)

Fuji Manager Takeshi Ueno says: “We are testing a digital medium format sensor”

The Fuji GFG670 medium format film camera

Fuji Manager Takeshi Ueno confessed in an interview with Bjp-online that they are seriouly considering to make a digital medium format camera! He says:

We are in a very good position to make a medium format camera, as we make camera bodies, sensors and lenses. We already make the lenses for Hasselblad, so we have that expertise.
At the moment Fuji is not planning to launch a medium format camera, but we are conducting research and testing sensors in this area.
We have a good history in the medium format market, and I think we would be successful again. We have the technology to make a very modern and high quality camera, but right now we are only investigating
.”“Ueno agreed that now would be a very good time for Fuji to enter the market, but it seems that not everyone in the company is quite as convinced.”

That would be exciting! The Full Frame mirrorless battle is something that will become crowded once Nikon and Canon will enter it. Going Medium format may be a smart move to stay out of the battle. But of course the question is if Fuji can keep the costs down and still make profits out of it.
