Sony announced a new E-mount camera today. But this one is meant for industry use! It’s a super low light capable 4K camera. It uses a 12 megapixel Full Frame sensor and it will ship in August. Those are the google translated specs (original source Sony Japan).
With the never-ending Megapixel, Speed and video recording resolution race you have to be sure that memory cards can actually do their job. SDA announced their new 5.0 memory card standard and here are the full details:
Dpreview posted an interview they made with Canon Manager Tokura. I will quote the part regarding the mirrorless future:
There are some features, such as AF, which have not yet caught up with DSLRs, so given the current state of affairs it would be a little unrealistic to say that we will suddenly start offering a professional mirrorless camera. There’s still a performance gap that needs to be addressed.
This is just my personal opinion. In my view there are two key features that have to be addressed. The first is autofocus, particularly tracking of moving subjects. The other is the viewfinder. The electronic viewfinder would have to offer a certain standard. If those two functions were to match the performance of EOS DSLR camera performance, we might make the switch.
Well of course Tokura is probably just hiding his cards form the eyes of the competition…
Mr. Uematsu explaining the limits of displacement sensor for stabilization in the body
The spanish site DSLRmagazine interviewed both Panasonic and Olympus managers. And they gave us some hint of what to expect from them in future:
Panasonic:
They are considering to make a more “classic” MFT camera similar to the Olympus PEN-F
Panasonic will keep focusing on the Dual IS technology and add in lens stabilization on all lenses above 25mm focal length
Olympus:
Olympus has no plan to release proper “video-oriented” cameras
Olympus also said they have no plan to make any Tilt Shift lens
Rumors: Olympus is rumored to launch a new series of f/1.2 primes in early Summer. There is also a new camera launch event planned within the next 4-6 weeks. Panasonic will launch a 6K GH camera around Photokina
We got a bunch of new Fuji rumors via Fujirumors (LOL). Here they are:
