Merry Christmas!

50 years ago on Christmas Eve in 1968, Apollo 8 astronauts Frank Borman, James Lovell, and William Anders orbited the moon and were the first to see this incredible sight.  This view of the earth rising above the lunar horizon was a new perspective for the astronauts and everyone on earth.

Take care of the things that matter in live. Merry Christmas!

First image samples shot with the Fujinon GF100-200mm F5.6 R LM OIS WR

Fujirumors shared these first image samples that were posted online for a short period by PCH shop. PCH wrote on the article that has now been removed:

Our first impressions are more than good! This lens is relatively light, handy and the optical quality after our first tests is at the rendezvous. In addition the GF100-200mm is stabilized which is very valuable when we have the tremblotte like me

The Fujinon GF100-200mm F5.6 LM OIS WR should arrive in the course of the first quarter of 2019 if our information is correct

Sony 8K sensors are coming and here are the full leaked specs!

A whole bunch of leaked documents posted by SonyAlphaRumors make it clear Sony is ready for 8K:

1) Sony has finalized the new XEVC 8K code (details on SAR).
2) There is a 60MP 8K sensor (details on SAR).
3) There is a 36MP 8K sensor (details on SAR).

No don’t get too excited: While sensor and codec will support 8K the hardware might not. Processor speed and heating issues might be the limiting factor here. I expect 8K to be implemented on large camcorder bodies first, It might take 1-2 years before we get in on more normal sized compact mirrorless cameras.

These are some stunning new images of the Nikon 58mm f/0,95 Z lens.

Oh boy! GearHeads like us will  go crazy looking at these brand new images of the Nikon 58mm f/0,95 Z lens. And thanks to Nikon photographer Yusuf Kathawala for the first time we can see this lens mounted on the Nikon Z camera. And I have to say that this lens looks less big than I expected.

This image in particular should help to give you an idea:

On the left you see the 58mm lens and on the right the 105mm f/1.4 F-mount lens.

I know it’s still a big lens. But maybe not as crazy big as we all expected. Here are some more images:

Now let’s hope the original $6,000 rumored price tag is wrong and the lens will cost half of that. If not I will have to sell a kidney :)
