Today all big smart phone companies announced their new gear. And achieving new unseen photo quality was high on their priority list. Let’s go quickly through some of the innovations:

In summary:
All companies launched new smartphones with 3 or more cameras. You can now take 100+ Megapixel images, you can also have a decent zoom on the Oppo. I bet in 3-4 years 99% of the world’s photos will be taken with a smartphone and not camera. The thing here is the combination of multiple cameras and computational power can give you features that were exclusive territory of classic digital cameras like: High Resolution, Zoom, Dynamic Range.

Sony announcement within 48 hours. Lenses and no cameras?

Sony has gathered the jounrlists for a major product announcement. For sure we will get new E-mount lenses (135mm f/1.8 GM and maybe some more pre-production lenses). There is likely no new camera announcement. The A7sIII si rumored to be ready in late 2019 only. Sony A9r and A7000 are just wold rumors for now…

Olympus officially registered a new camera. And Sony officially confirms more APS-C gear will come this year.

Olympus:
Olympus registered a new camera in Asia. This is likely to be a new OMD model (E-M5III or E-m1III). For sure this is NOT a PEN-FII because this line seems to have been killed by Olympus :(
The new OMD will be announced during the second half of the year.

Sony:
Sony confirmed it’s committment to the APS-C line in an interview released at DC.watch. They also made it clear new APS-C products will be released in 2019 and that “high end” APS-C is also a priority.

Shoten announces the new Sony E to Nikon Z autofocus adapter and two more lenses

The Chinese company Shoten announced that it will display three new products at the CP+ show:

1) The image on top shows you the new Sony E to Nikon Z autofocus adapter from Techart.
2) They will also show the new Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95 III lens for Sony E, Nikon Z and Canon RF mount
3) And there is also the new 60mm f/2.8 macro for Sony E, MFT, Fuji X and Canon EF-M
