Wanna bet Canon will launch the APS-C EOS-R7 in 2021 and slowly kill the EOS-M system?

There are some wild rumors about a possible EOS-R7 APS-C camera coming in 2021. Without having any knowledge yet if this is really going to happen I have near zero doubts that this will eventually happen. The reason is quite simple. In this shrinking market it makes absolute ZERO sense for Canon to continue the EOS-M system.

I am pretty sure we will get an APS-C camera within 2 years and that current EOS-M users might be offered a big trade-in program to switch over.

And here it is the lens that kills the Sony GM zoom: Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 FE

Sony managers will be quite pissed off today. Tamron announced the 70-180mm f/2.8 FE lens which costs less than half than the Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 GM lens. You can preorder the new Tamron now at BHphoto, Adorama and FocusCamera. In Eu at WexUK and ParkCameras.

The only reason to get the Sony is the additional in lens stabilization and 20mm extra tele reach. But I think for 99% of the people the Tamron will be THE choice.

Question is: Will Tamron make this lens for Nikon Z and Canon EOS-R cameras too???

ThisTanaka says you should give up the hope for a possible Ricoh-Pentax FF or MF mirrorless camera

Well informed source ThisTanaka made it clear that Ricoh-Pentax has no plan to launch a Full Frame or Medium Format mirrorless camera.

This makes sense to me. It’s now well too late to start a new system that can compete in the very niche Full Frame mirroless market. It would only make sense to start a new system if there is completely something new on the horizon….something like curved sensors for example which would give a distinctive advantage over current sensor tech. P.S.: Curved sensor is just one wild idea…there are some others too like the new flat lenses.
