Nikon Is ending 70 years of camera production in Japan

The Japanese website Asahi reports that Nikon is ending the production of cameras in Japan and moving all production to Thailand.

This is simply Nikon’s attempt to cut costs as much as it gets. Don’t think this is enough to make them stay in the business. Troubling times for Nikon :(

Curved sensors now go into mass production. Are they coming to mirrorless cameras too?

The first curved sensor made it now officially into mass production. It’s from a french company named “Curve-One“. Here are some quick info about the sensor advantages:

But when are those kind of sensors to a mirrorless camera? Not any time soon for sure. The problem is that you would have to launch a completely new line of lenses designed for those sensors. Your “older” lenses designed for flat sensors would not work anymore.

I know Sony had such a prototype lens and some patents some years ago. I guess an RX fixed lens camera using such a sensor may be coming in 2-3 years…

Many leaks and info about third party lenses from Laowa, Viltrox, Sirui

Third party manufacturers never sleep and we got a ton of leaks and info:

  1. First leaked image of the new Laowa Argus 35mm f/0.95 FE lens (SonyAlphaRumors)
  2. Viltrox will announce the new 24-35-50mm f/1.8 FE lenses on December 25 (SonyAlphaRumors)
  3. The new Zenitar 50mm f/1.5 FE lens will be produced in 2021 (SonyAlphaRumors)
  4. New Sirui 24mm f/2.8 1.33x Micro Four Thirds Anamorphic Lens announced (43rumors).

Sharp keeps teasing this new 8K MFT camera

Sharp posted a new image of their 8K Micro Four Thirds camera. But they still don’t say when this camera will be for sale. All they write is that this cameras is still “under development”.
