Sigma CEO Kazuto Yamaki: There new Foveon sensor is likely to have PDAF!
Sigma’s CEO Kazuto Yamaki has been interviewed by Imaging Resource. He said that there is a new delay in the Foveon sensor development caused by the worldwide chip shortage,. Their partner for the Foveon sensor development has to first focus on fixing their production limitations. There is also one more good news. When asked about the Foveon sensor having PDAF he answered:
In terms of the autofocus performance, the phase detection is the best solution. So I personally believe we need to implement phase detection AF, but we haven’t made a decision.

A pointless stunner: New Xiaomi 12S Ultra has an M-mount!
Xiaomi showed off this 12S Ultra prototype with M-mount! It looks nice but I also think it’s pointless. First off all it has an 1 inch and not a full…Full Frame sensor. Which makes the use of M-mount lenses totally meaningless as you loose most of the image anyway. And than there is also a question of usability with such an unbalanced combo!
