Samsung talks about the future

There is an interesting interview at Samsungimaging about the NX future. But the most exciting news here is the picture I do post below:

Those are all camera prototypes from Samsung. There is Hasselblad styled camera, a camera with nice old style manual controls that looks like the Leica X1 leathered camera. Only the white model looks really ugly :)

Also Sony goes….pink!

So far only Pentax (with the Kr) and Panasonic (with the GF2) released PINK models. You don’t see them very often and they are also more expensive than the “normal” colored cameras. But now we just received that image of the upcoming new Sony NEX-C3 which we have been told will be available in Black, Silver and Pink! Confess, that’s the news you were waiting for ;)

P.S.:
See the Pink Pentax Kr on .
See the Pink Panasonic GF2 on .

E-PL2 vs GF2 vs NEX-C3 size comparison!

Amazing how small the NEC-C3 is. But I remind you smaller isn’t necessary better. Olympus is much thicker but this happens because they feature they very useful in body stabilization. But I am wondering how small Panasonic will go with the next GF3. Probably sooner or later we will see a camera with the size of the mount only :)

NEX-C3 specs and future NEX lenses.

And here is the (leaked) future of the NEX system! You already saw the pictures of the NEX-C3 and 30mm macro but now we also got the full detailed specs:

NEX-C3:
16 megapixel sensor,
surprise: 200-12800 ISO (where is the ISO 100?)
HD video recording (why no FullHD?)
25 AF
same 3inch LCD as the NEX-5
The camera will also have the new picture effects (the NEX-3 and NEX-5 will get them with a firmware update)
The battery life has been increased by 20% compared to the battery life of the NEX-5
Price $599

30mm f/3.5 macro
designed with 7 lens elements in 6 groups
one of them is an ED lens and three of them are aspherical
Minimum focusing distance is 10cm
filter size 49mm
weight 138g.
Price 249 Euro

There will be six more NEX lenses to come until 2012 (See picture on top)
A Sony portrait lens 50mm f/1.8
The 24mm f/1.7 Zeiss
The telephoto zoom lens (should be 55-200mm f/4-5.6)
A medium telephoto lens
The Sony G standard zoom
A Sony wide angle zoom.

Sony to announce new products on June the 8rd. And than again a Panasonic annoucement!

UPDATE: Announcement is on June 8 not June 3.

Sony will announce the new Sony NEX-C3, NEX 30mm macro lens and NEX flash on June the 3rd! (Source SonyAlphaRumors). And that isn’t all. A couple of days later Panasonic will again announce new Micro Four Thirds products! Also Olympus is rumored to release new m43 lenses in late June. So we are going to have a very busy month!

In summary what’s coming:
– Sony NEX-C3 with 16 Megapixels (549 Euro)
– Sony 30mm f/3.5 macro for NEX (249 Euro)
– New Flash for NEX (no price)
– Panasonic 25mm f/1.4 Leica branded m43 lens (not 100% sure yet)
– Probably a second zoom lens too (not 100% sure yet)
– The Olympus 12mm f/2.0 lens
– A second Olympus portrait lens.

And my “instinct” tells me that also in July we will see some new stuff from Samsung and Sony (yes again!).

New Nikon and Pentax mirrorless rumors!

A long time ago we posted the rumor that Nikon would use a 2,5x crop factor sensor for their new “Coolpix Pro” mirrorless system. Now a second independent and well known externals source (Nikonrumors) confirmed that the system will have a 2,6x crop sensor (not 2,5x): “the difference between 2.5x and 2.6x is probably because of different rounding“. But Nikonrumros also got one more info: “According to the rumor, three new lenses will be introduced at the time of the mirrorless camera announcement: one wide pancake and two zooms.” To bad that the announcements have been delayed. As Thom Hogan said: “The electronics companies in Japan still aren’t sure what they will and won’t be able to produce in the near term.

P.S.: I know many of you will laugh at the “PRO” suffix for the mirrorless Coolpix camera. But you know…marketing rules the world!

One more news about the Pentax mirrorless system. Raphael Mabo (Dpreview forum) said that “If Pentax makes a mirrorless camera, it won’t be K-mount.” Sounds reasonable…

Samsung leaks a 300mm f/2.8 XF-ED lens on youtube

After Sony also Samsung decided to commit a leak suicide :)
The video you can see on top contains the picture of a new 300mm f/2.8 XF-ED lens. Certainly an intentional leak from Samsung and also not the first one (Click here to see the NX camera/lens roadmap” leak”). It’s called viral marketing!

That’s the lens:

Nice or not?

A reader noticed that: “the focus ring turns in the opposite direction to other NX lenses“.
