Time to make a roundup of the rumors spreading on the web. What can we expect to be announced at Photokina by the big companies?

Canon:
Earlier this year Canon promised to launch a more “advanced” mirrorless camera. But I think this will be an APS-C camera and not a new Full Frame system.

Nikon:
Since over a year now Nikon sites do “rumor” about new large sensor mirrorless cameras. So far none of those rumors became true. Maybe the stagnating mirrorless market sales made them change their mind about the need to launch a FF compact system camera?

Sony:
Well, first a hint. I expect Sony to “skip” the Photokina event. Their new Sony A9 is more likely to be introduced in the October-November timeframe in order to get the full spotlight and no distractions from other Photokina news. High megapixel count (close to 100MP) is one of the things we expect to see on that camera.

Olympus:
Two things are sure in our life: Death the and the new E-M1II :) That camera will be surely announced at Photokina :)

Panasonic:
There will be a new entry level MFT camera in late August. But the big questions is: Will they also announce the GH5 at Photokina? There were some rumors about delays caused by the Kumamoto earthquake…

Fuji:
The X-A3 is coming and nobody really cares about it :)
The major news may be the medium format system camera that Fuji could display as a prototype….

The Micro Four Thirds is growing bigger soon:

  1. In Late August Panasonic will announce a new entry level MFT camera. There will be a new LX fixed lens camera too
  2. Olympus will announce the new E-M1II on September 19. It has an Olympus designed and Sony produced sensor. There should be also a new 12-100mm f/4.0 PRO lens, a new 25mm f/1.2 PRO prime and a 30mm f/3.5 macro

New rumors: Fuji X-T2 to get “F-log” update. E-M1II could have Olympus designed sensor!

We got a bunch of new rumors to report:

Fuji:
In an interview Fuji said the X-T2 could get an “F-log” feature via future firmware update (Source: Fujirumors).

Sony:
Zeiss will announce a telephoto Batis prime lens at Photokina. This oculd be a 135mm lens (Source: Sonyalpharumors).

Olympus:
There may be a unexpected suprise on the new E-M1II. While the sensor is produced by Sony the design is rumored to be made by Olympus! (Source: 43rumors).

Olympus will launch the 4K capable E-M1II and the new 12-100mm f/4.0 PRO lens!

While the E-PL8 leaked many months ago disappeared from the rumor radar we can switch over to more exciting Olympus news. At Photokina we can expect two great new MFT products:

  1. The E-M1II with 20MP sensor, 4K video, dual SD card, handheld high resolution mode
  2. The 12-100mm f/4.0 PRO zoom

Now if also the new 25mm f/1.2 PRO lens will be announced along the first two rumored items than well, this is going to be an exciting Photokina for the MFT fellowship!
