Also Zeiss teases a new camera launch!

Not only Nikon but also Zeiss can do teasers! :)

SonyAlphaRumors reports that Zeiss will launch a new Fixed Lens Full Frame compact camera at Photokina. The image on top shows it will be curvy and classy! I suspect this will be a new RX1rIII designed by Zeiss. Those are the rumore specs:

– Announcement before Photokina
– This is a fixed lens Full Frame camera
– It uses Sony tech (probably RX1II based).
– Price around $3,000
– Priobably has a prime lens (35mm f/2.0?)
– Slightly bigger lens construction than you get on the Sony RX1 series.
– lens is autofocus

Wow! Zeiss will soon announce a new Otus 100mm f/1.4 lens!

If you sit on a mountain of cash we just got a new idea on where you can spend it: Zeiss will soon announce the new Zeiss Otus 100mm f/1.4 lens!

This lens has an APO Sonnar Design and will be available for Canon and Nikon mounts which you can easily adapt on any mirrorless system camera. The filter diameter is 86mm. There is now word yet about the pricing but I suspect this lens will cost more than the other Otus lenses which would mean possibly $5,000+

So dear rich people this is a good day for you!

Nikon launches new Nikon Z teaser video which shows a bit of of the camera

Today Nikon launched a new teaser video and it shows us some pieces of the new camera:

As you can see from the first image it has full touchscreen autofocus. The second image shows an F mount lens used on the camera via adapter. And the third image shows us the EVF and control dial.

And on the official Nikon teaser website you can find that image:

Nikon Z7 is rumored to use an “improved” D850 sensor with new photodiode construction

It is still unclear if the Nikon Z7 will use the same 45MP sensor from the D850 or not. But a source of the chinese forum Xitek claimed the Z7 will use an improved sensor version:

“Just spoken to a franchise director at LCE, apparently Thursday will be a very exciting day indeed.
The adapter for the new mirrorless camera will pretty much be free when bought with either model, and the adaptor will make upto 400 lenses compatible so that’ll make all lenses with either electronic or mechanical apertures compatible.
The sensor will be better than the D850 owing to how they’ve constructed the diodes and the way it’s capturing more light, and the new range of lenses will have fresnel elements to give an ‘effective’ larger aperture (so I was told a 1.8 Will be marketed as 1.8 but behaves like a 1.4, and be tiny) much like their new 300mm that shrunk.
Pre orders coming Thursday to ship mid November”
Just chatting with the LCE branch manager, he said that obviously Thursday will be a very exciting day.

Makes sense that this is not exactly the same D850 sensor. It has to be optimized for use on a mirrorless camera. I am a bit surprised to hear that the f/1.8 prime will have fresnel elements. This would be quite a curious choice from Nikon! What do you think?

Another Nikon Z mount size comparison with Sony…because you can’t have enough of them :)

We saw so many camera size comparisons but only on August 23 we will know the 100% accurate size of the new Nikon Z. In the meantime check out these images made by Cameracreativ.de:

Not sure how accurate these are. I am also curious to see if Canon will also use such a large mount on their FF mirrorless when it will be announced. We know Canon has a mirrorless event on September 4/5 but so far we didn’t get confirmation if that’s just for the current Canon EOS-M line or for a new FF mirrorless…
