Canon says “8K video capable camera is already in our EOS R-series roadmap”

Imaging Resource interviewed Canon manager Mr. Yoshiyuki Mizoguchi. Here is a summary made by CanonWatch:

[…] sales performance of EOS R camera and RF lenses is almost in line with our original expectation. We have gotten a huge amount of positive feedback on the RF lenses. Everyone who has tried the RF 50mm F1.2 has loved it.

We developed the EOS R System for the next 30 years, and started by introducing higher-end RF lenses. Yes, we are very serious about mirrorless. But please do not get the wrong impression, we will continue to enhance DSLR technology and products as well.

Video will play a huge role in the EOS R System for sure. For example, an 8K video capable camera is already in our EOS R-series roadmap

Panasonic and Sony already confirmed they are working on 8K cameras. Happy to hear Canon is in the basket too :)

– The camera costs below $5,000
– It records 8k at 30fps in H.265 codec
– It has a single UHS-II SD card slot
– It has on sensor stabilization
– It has a huge 5 inch flip out display

Here is Kinotikas video about the new camera:

New Nikkor Z lens roadmap announced in Japan!

Nikoneye got their hands on the new updated Nikon Z lens roadmap announced today in Japan. There are four changes compared with the original Photokina roadmap:

1) First we now know that these lenses will come in 2020:

  • 20 mm f/1,8 S
  • 50 mm f/1,2 S
  • 14-24 mm f/2,8 S

2) The 24mm f/1.8 will be released in 2019 instead of the previous estimated 2020 release

3) In 2020 we will get additional four TBA (to be announced) lensees instead of the previous three

4) In 2021 we will get 7 lenses instead of the previous 8

Usually Sony does not unveil E-mount products at CES but let’s see if they make an exception this time…

Panasonic confirms S1-S1R will be previewed at CES and Olympus launches E-M1X teaser

Panasonic confirmed via newsletter that they will “preview” the S1-S1R cameras at the CES show. Panasonic will have a press conference on Monsay at 10am Las Vegas time. I am a bit concerned that the word “preview” implies that we will not get full specs and preorders yet…

What’s 100% sure is that Olympus will announce the E-M1X on January 24 as confirmed via this official teaser video:
