We got a double interview today: Dpreview interviewed Yasuyuki Nagata from Sony and Imaging Resource posted this interview with Olympus managers.

Sony did  nothing to hide the fact that they are close to launch a new A9II model. In one year we have the Tokyo Olympics and the A9II has to be out this year to have enough time to win over some photographers heart.

Olympus did not disclose anything about the future models. They could NOT confirm that “some” of the PEN line models will not continue. To be less vague the rumor mill says the PEN-F line is at a dead-end. And the “no comment” from Olympus sounds like the rumor mill is spot on.

The long time rumored 200-600mm and 600mm FE lens will be announced today at 4pm London time. But the bigger news is that Sony also registered a new camera model in Asia. The only spec unveiled in that registration is that the camera is capable of 5.8GHz Wifi transmission. It means it can quickly transfer images. This sounds very useful for a camera like the rumored A9II. All those Olympic Sports photographers using the A9II would need such speed to quickly download the images.

Tomorrow or after tomorrow Sony should announce two new FE lenses:

• 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3
• 600mm f/4.0

I haven’t heard anything else about other companies announcing new mirrorless gear soon. All I got is some whisper about a possible Hasselblad X1DII announcement…but I have no confirmation yet this is indeed going to happen within June.

On Monday at around 4pm London time Sony will announce two new lenses:

– The $14,000 600mm f/4.0 GM
– The $2,000 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G

There will be no new camera. The A9 successor is likely to be announced in 2-3 months from now!

Fuji registered a new camera with the code name FF190002 here (via nokishita). Fujirumors is 100% sure this is the new X-PRO3 which is going to be announced in autumn.

SonyAlphaRumors spotted this auction for a new Sony 200-600G OSS f/5.6-6.3 FE lens. The lens does yet NOT exist and is likely to be a prototype. We don’t know yet if the seller simply found this lens lost somewhere on the streets of Tokyo…or if it’s a stolen item.

All we know for sure is that the lens will be officially announced this week already!

CanonWatch long time rumored that the 7D DSLR line will be replaced by a new mirrorless line. And indeed it now looks like Canon killed the 7D DSLR line. I guess in 5 years from now Canon could really stop making DSLR cameras at all!
