Leica SL sensor DxO review: Best-performing Leica to date

Bildschirmfoto 2016-01-21 um 20.12.57

DxOmark (Click here) tested the new Leica SL sensor and writes:

Although the Leica Q’s sensor performance hinted at the direction Leica was taking, the Leica SL sensor improves on that. Such improvement might be only in some small way, but it is quantifiable. With impressive still capability surpassing that of many high-end DSLRs, and with access to Leica’s huge range of top-drawer optics with a range of optional adapters, the Leica SL is a compelling choice,  particularly for those who already own a number of Leica lenses. The Leica SL is not cheap, but then engineering at this level never is. Compared with the Leica M, there’s not much in it —indeed, it is even cheaper than a newer M-P at $7950, and that’s before taking into account the extra $570 for the Leica Visoflex EVF2. Given the advantages of the built-in viewfinder for focusing, particularly off-center, the SL may even be the better bet.

Leica has done a nice camera but it’s too bulky for my taste and price well…$7,450 at BHphoto. Nope :(

Sony RX1R II gets fixed by Sony and reviewed bt TCSTV

At last Sony gave us the reason why the RX1rII production stopped. There was a light leak issue on cameras serial number from 6310198 to 6311127. If you own a camera with that serial number you will get it repaired by Sony. The RX1RII will go regularly back on sale from February 19.

And now you can watch the video review posted by our friends from TCSTV!

Picture of the new X-PRO 2 completley demolished by a reviewer!

Well that’s not really good if Fuji hand you over one of the very first X-PRO 2 cameras and then you demolish it like that :)
The reviewer Rico did yet not explain how he managed to “reshape” the X-PRO 2 like that. Maybe it was a Grizzly attack? Or an angry Nikon marketing guy? :)

First Panasonic 100-400mm lens preview by Daniel Cox!

Daniel Cox (Click here) published the very first review of the new Panasonic 100-400mm lens (preorders at Amazon, Adorama, BHphoto). Daniel writes:

I chose not to write a specific report on the details of this new optic since the two I was shooting were basically prototypes, literally built by hand and somewhat different than what we will soon see. I will say that the auto focus was exceptionally fast and accurate, the glass is extremely sharp. It focuses as close as 1.3 meters or 4.2 feet and I shot the image of a goose feather below that was about three inches in length to give you an example.

Leica Q sensor gets DxOmarked

Bildschirmfoto 2015-12-29 um 19.54.41

The Leica Q sensor got tested by DxOmark:

The Leica Q is a thoroughly modern and likable camera with a very impressive sensor. While it is close in performance to the CMOS in the Leica M, it is clearly a different sensor with slightly lower noise and improved high-ISO dynamic range. While that has implications for the dynamic range at base ISO, it remains competitive and offers excellent, nuanced color and low noise. If the field of view of the fixed 28mm focal length lens appeals, then anyone who likes working with the Leica M series will surely be tempted by the performance of this new model.

Canon ME20F-SH review at Explora

Bildschirmfoto 2015-12-21 um 09.29.52

There is a new ME20F-SH review at Explora BH (Click here):

While it isn’t necessarily meant to be an “A” camera for most productions, I’m sure wildlife and nature documentarians, cave and deep-sea videographers, and astrophotographers in particular, will be champing at the bit to try out the camera. With its ability to capture previously impossible shots, the ME20F-SH could help reinvent the very look and feel of ultra-low-light videography. Exciting times are ahead.

Tony Northup and Ming Thein show you how to create the (almost) perfect camera!

First of all a nice Sunday to all of you! And before we go on with new rumors let’s talk about how companies should actually make the cameras so that they are almost perfect:

On the video above Tony Northup shares his ideas about the perfect camera. And Ming Thein shows us how to design mirrorless right.

Companies should take note of their suggestions and make such cameras for a low price ;)
