Small news: Canon EOS-M double kit.

You are not going to jump for joy for this but Canon US just released the new Canon EOS-M double kit lens package you can already available at Adorama. It was already available in Asia (here on Slidoo eBay).

Speaking of Asia…to be precise Japan. At BCNranking you can check out the latest week top system camera sales. You will notice that actually the cheapest mirrorless cameras are top sellers in the mirrorless segment. There is even the Pentax Q camera that sells like a hotcake :)

The Nikon news roundup (financial results, DxOmark, V2 test and more)

It’s time to look a bit more into some new Nikon 1 related news!

Let’s start with a deal on refurbished J1 camera at Cameta (now $259 only). As you know it has been replaced by the J2 but the DxOmark sensor test demonstrates that there is no real image quality improvement on the newer model. And image samples of the new V2 model have been posted by the Russian Prophoto site. The surprise comes from the Nikon Q2 financial report that showed that the new DSLRs and Nikon 1 are selling well in face of the economic crisis (Engadget). I may underestimated Nikon’s capacity to sell the Nikon 1 mirrorless cameras :)

Fuji X-E1 and Canon EOS-M Gariz cases coming next week!

If you are going to be a Fuji X-E1 or Canon EOS-M owner than you may be interested to know that next week Gariz will launch the new cases for both cameras. Gariz is well known for making high quality leather cases for mirrorless cameras. You can find a long list of these on Slidoo eBay (Click here and slide / register slidoo to have fulls earch access).

Meantime a new Fuji X-E1 review can be found on Fujirumors.

Japan: Full Mirrorless market analysis

Japan is the one country that leads the mirrorless revolution started by Olympus and Panasonic four years ago. And the latest market analysis released by BCNranking (translation here) shows how 50% of all sold system cameras are mirrorless. And it is expected that the growth will continue at cost of the DSLR systems. The graph on top shows how Olympus leads the market with 28.6% closely followed by Sony (23.5%), Panasonic (17.3%) and Nikon (12.8%). The real winners of the year are Sony and Canon. Sony managed to surpass Panasonic and Canon is actually selling the new EOS-M that well that it almost caught up with Nikon. In October these were the most sold cameras in Japan: E-PL3 (10.6%), NEX-5N (10.3%), EOS-M (9.2%), GF5 (8.9%).
