Sigma interview: Says aims to achieve large format quality and talks about a Full Frame Foveon.

DC.watch interviewed Sigma president Yamaki Kazuto. And those are some of the most interesting news:

– He believes time will come when Mirrorless will outsell DSLR. But DSLR will always exist as a niche product.
– We aim to achieve medium and large format quality with our foveon sensor tech
– We receive many request to make a Full Frame Foveon. And we are aware the tendency now is to make larger sensors and with even more Megapixels.
– Sigma has no plan to make an interchangeable mirrorless system camera yet.
– There is no plan yet to make a DP camera with zoom lens

Panasonic, Samsung and Sony announcements on January 5th.

Samsung, Sony and Panasonic confirmed they will announce new products on January 5th. But there will be almost certainly no new mirrorless system (photo)camera. They will announce new TV’s camcorders and maybe compact and fixed lens cameras.

Samsung may be the only exception. There is a new NX400 (or NX500) coming soon. We just don’t know yet if it will be announced at CES or CP+.

New interviews: Olympus says no Full Frame yet. And Sony says no Medium Format yet.

Today DC.watch posted the content of the interview with Sony and Olympus. There is no really interesting info about their plans. As expected they will both focus on strengthen their current camera and lens line. Both confirm the trend goes towards realizing Higher Megapixel sensor and better autofocus performance. They also said what they NOT plan to do in the near future: Olympus will not go Full frame yet and Sony will not make an interchangeable Medium Format system yet.
